Bourne Town Hall is a Grade II listed building located within the Market Place of the Bourne Conservation Area in Lincolnshire.
This former courthouse with open shambles was built in 1821 on a parcel of land donated by the Marquis of Exeter by ‘Deed of Gift’. The building has an unusual façade, with exterior recessed twin flight of steps which wind round either side of formal Doric columns. The frontage is built in limestone, but the remainder of the building is in brick with stone detailing around the openings.
The Trust are developing plans to restore, reuse and reopen Bourne Town Hall as a facility for the community as they look for a viable use for this historical asset. The aim is to restore the building, as far as possible, to its original state with a sympathetic conversion for community use.
We were commissioned to undertake a Condition Survey and Viability Appraisal to inform Trust, Lincolnshire County Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and other potential stakeholders and funding bodies, into the viability of bringing this redundant building back into a sustainable active use in order to secure its long-term future.
