A great evening was had by all at the esteemed LABC Building Excellence Awards 2019 on Friday night. The event was held at the stylish Double Tree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa & Golf Resort, and was chaired by Guy Hobson, Chair of South Yorkshire and Humber LABC Marketing Group. The awards were presented by Sponsors along with the Master of Ceremonies, Blair Jacobs, who managed to relax and liven up the evening with his quick wit and great sense of humour.
We are really pleased with the result of the colour scheme for the Crooked Spire in Chesterfield. After agreeing a selection of blue tones with the church it was then down to designing the detail.
Looking out over Lincolnshire from the top of St Botolph’s Church it is easy to see why years ago it was used as a guide – you can see for miles over the rooftops to the wash and on a clear day I have been told that you can even see Lincoln Cathedral.
We have just heard that Newcastle House has been short-listed for the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2019. The awards ceremony will take place on 17th May at the Athena Leicester and highlights building excellence and celebrates outstanding achievements in the construction industry.
The last few weeks have been full of ups and downs and we are always sad to hear that any of our churches have been a target of crime, so to have had calls from five of our churches within the last few weeks to say that they have lost their lead roofs through theft has been extremely shocking.

We are delighted to announce that St Botolph’s Church have been successful with its bid to the HLF for £1.17million for the much needed repairs to the tower, which includes major structural repairs and re-roofing works and stonework and window repairs to the west face.
